Extractors/Purifying Agents

Kaolin Clay – The mildest of all clays, Kaolin Clay is best used on sensitive skin. It helps stimulate circulation while gently exfoliating and cleansing. Kaolin Clay is high in Calcium, Silica, Zinc and Magnesium, all of which beneficial for oily, blemished skin as well. This clay’s mildly drying and disinfectant properties help heal existing blemishes and inflammations, while preventing new ones from forming.

Bentonite Clay (Premium Grade) – Bentonite Clay is a combination of Montmorillonite and volcanic ash. This highly absorbent clay removes impurities and toxins from the skin’s pores without over drying. It also firms and tones.

Antioxidants/Skin Repairing Agents

Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract (Goji Berry) – This nutrient-rich antioxidant is rated number one on the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity Scale, which measures the antioxidant levels in food. It contains over 18 different amino acids and vitamins like B1, B2, B6, C and E plus more beta-carotene than carrots. Goji Berry also contains more than 20 trace minerals such as copper, calcium, iron and zinc. It helps soothe the skin and is particularly effective for treating redness or sensitivity.

Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract (Acaí Berry) – One of nature’s most powerful antioxidants, the Acai Berry is high in Vitamin C, amino acids, essential fatty acids, fibers and proteins that help balance lipid activity and promote skin cell health. Flavinoids also help fight inflammation resulting in supple, radiant skin.

Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract – Blueberry extract helps protect the skin from free radical damage and prevents premature aging. Its vaso-protective qualities target the skin’s fine capillaries, minimizing facial redness. Blueberry extract is extremely rich in Vitamin C and phytonutrients such as polyphenols and ellagic acid.

Rubus Villosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract – This potent antioxidant breaks down the extra cellular matrix proteins that contribute to aging.

Blackberry is particularly high in Vitamin C and also has a high tannin content which makes it a natural astringent.

Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract – Turmeric’s active ingredient is Curcumin, a strong antioxidant known for its anti- inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Turmeric aids in preventing and removing blemishes and helps improve overall skin tone.

Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Atractyloides Macrocephala Root Extract, Bupleurum Falcatum Root Extract (Huang Qi, Bai Zhu, Chai Hu) – Inspired from traditional Chinese medicine, this three root blend helps to target the three signs of ageing: dehydration, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. These roots play in roll in restoring the epidermis integrity; stimulate collagen synthesis and aids in counteracting the melanogenesis and oxidative stress associated with UV and pollution. All of that adds up to radiant skin that glows.

Humectants/Moisturizers

Vegetable Glycerin – A humectant that protects the skin’s outer barrier and helps skin retain moisture. Prevents dryness and scaling.

Sodium Lactate – This naturally occurring organic acid (aka Alpha Hydroxy Acids or AHAs) is a superior moisturizer that helps increase the water content of the skin.

Sodium PCA – This powerful humectant is an element of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor. It helps attract and retain moisture in the skin’s top layers.

Glycine – An amino acid found in proteins that helps maintain a well-moisturized, healthy skin barrier.

Fructose – A simple sugar found in fruit and honey, Fructose contains water-binding properties that help increase the water content of the top layers of the skin.

Urea – Moisturizes and softens dry, rough skin by increasing the water content of the skin while gently exfoliating dead skin cells. Urea also strengthens the barrier function of the skin and helps accelerate the regeneration process.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) – Increases natural emollients and skin protectants (Ceramide levels) to improve skin hydration and prevent loss of water content. Also shown to reduce skin discolorations, redness and flaking while restoring suppleness.

Pentylene Glycol – A non-irritating glycol that functions as an antimicrobial skin moisturizer.

Hydrolyzed Algin, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract (Brown Algae & Microalgae) – A natural polysaccharide which provides an immediate and long term moisturizing effect. It helps to restructure the hydrolipidic film and the skin barrier, thus avoiding skin dehydration and allowing the active fixation of water at the stratum corneum level.

Exfoliating/Skin Resurfacing

Grape Seed Powder – A fine powder obtained from grape seeds that are rich in anti-oxidant polyphenols, which fight against free radicals involved in the aging of structural components of the skin. These polyphenols help keep the skin elastic and supple.

Cranberry Seed Powder – A fine powder obtained from natural cranberries that contain polyphenols and tocotrienols which act in synergy to provide a powerful anti-aging effect, while Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids reinforce the skin hydrolipidic film. The cranberry pulp is also rich in tannins thus inhibiting bacteria development.

Lactic Acid – A naturally occurring organic acid also known as Milk Acid or Alpha Hydroxyl Acid (AHA). Gently exfoliates dry and dead skin cells and increases the absorption of barrier repair moisturizers.
